How the journey began
Angel Hernández, our Spanish founder, arrived in Scotland at the young age of 21 and found his first job making pallets in Govan. He later trained as a joiner, and within just three years, he had started his own company.
A cabinetmaker turned shopfitter turned stone fabricator, Angel brings over 51 years of hands-on experience. His wealth of knowledge and wisdom continues to help our clients plan and execute their projects with confidence and care every day.
The early days
Angel’s journey into the world of stone began quite by accident. While searching for a way to recreate an ornate fireplace in wood and marble, he discovered the beauty and potential of natural stone. Inspired, he dreamed of bringing these stunning materials into homes across Scotland — and thus, his mission began.
Originally “a man and a van,” Angel drew and measured Job 001 — Galaxy Granite entirely by hand, relying on stone being cut in England. But his vision was clear: to create Scotland’s top stone fabrication facility. He rented space in The Arches, Finnieston, and the Rocca story truly began.
2008
By 2008, Rocca had moved to Hillington and was evolving into a family business. One of Angel’s daughters Alicia had joined the company during the Finnieston years, and in 2015 one of his sons Adrian came on board. Together, they built an incredible team of passionate, skilled people who shared their dedication to helping customers create beautiful, lasting spaces.
2014
Always forward-thinking, Angel embraced technology early and never looked back. Investing in advanced CNC machinery, digital templating equipment, and high-end polishing and scanning systems — blending precision technology with traditional craftsmanship. Rocca continues to evolve with the latest innovations in the stone industry.
2019
The company’s 2019 expansion into larger premises and large-format porcelain marked another milestone, establishing Rocca as one of Scotland’s leading fabricators of quartz, granite, marble, and porcelain.
The Rocca family has grown too — it’s not unusual to find one of Angel’s eight grandchildren chatting with their granddad in the office. And what are they talking about? Stone, of course!
2025
Now in 2025, Rocca proudly introduces Rocca Home — a curated showcase of the diverse range of bespoke products we now create for every room in our clients’ homes.
